This Startup Makes Hiring a Cleaner As Easy As Ordering Delivery
One of our New Year’s resolutions is to be more organized. We’ve already made multiple trips to the Container Store to buy everything from cute sticky notes to drawer organizers! But those are cosmetic solutions in comparison with our biggest problem: actually cleaning. While not total pigs, we are guilty of leaving grime on the countertops, a few sticky spots on the floor, and residue on microwave walls from inevitable overflows.
Thankfully we heard about Homejoy, the cleaning startup that employs a network of professionally-certified home cleaners in more than 30 cities in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. And setting up a cleaning is just as easy as ordering Seamless. Using Homejoy’s website or app, simply select the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in your home, add any extra tasks—like doing a load of laundry or cleaning the inside of the oven—and Homejoy recommends how long to book your cleaning for. This was a huge saving grace for us. As infrequent cleaners, we had no idea if cleaning our pad would take 30 minutes or three hours. The company lets you customize how long or short you’d like your cleaning to be and then bills $35 an hour.
Scheduling the cleaning was so easy we almost forgot about it, but luckily Homejoy sends reminders. And the cleaning was phenomenal. We don’t remember the last time our apartment looked so good: freshly washed floors, sparkling countertops, and, yes, finally a clean microwave. The real test of our New Year’s resolution will be if we can keep our place this clean. (But if it does get dirty again, we know exactly who to call!)
The best part yet: If you’ve never tried Homejoy, the company is giving new users 50 percent off their first cleaning.
